Sovereigns Unity Conclave 406
Team KHS Ceremony Saturday 27th January 2024

Following the Cold, Wet and Extremely Windy weather that West Lancashire, and the most of Britain for that matter, had experienced since the turn of the year, Saturday 27th January provided us with a much warmer day, the sun shining with the temperatures getting towards double figures!

So, what did the Red Cross Knights of West Lancashire do on such a pleasant day - they went to a Conclave Meeting at Chorley Masonic Hall where the temperature felt like the inside of a butchers Fridge.

The reason for such dedication was either as members of, or in support of, Sovereigns Unity Conclave No 406 who were hosting the Divisional KHS team as they carried out another of their Single Candidate KHS ceremonies.

These ceremonies, the brain child of our Deputy Intendant General, Stephen Gregory, have been taking place since Stephen took over as Deputy, and move around the Division being hosted by different Conclaves, not necessarily the mother Conclave of the Candidate.
Terry Bailey, John Askew, Graham Williams I.G. and Ray Pye
The Candidate on the morning was Kt. John Duncan Askew, of St Georges Conclave No 42, who coincidentally also meet at Chorley.

The Conclave was opened by Stephen who acted as Conclave Sovereign for the day. After a short business meeting, he closed the Conclave and the main business of the day commenced.

The KHS is by design spilt into three very different sections or points as the candidate transitions into becoming a full member of the Order. Each point has its own purpose and is often worked by three different knights who are in turn supported by a team of officers on the floor of the Conclave.

It is not appropriate to describe the impressive ceremonial here, but credit must be given to our respective leaders on this occasion:
1st Point Ray Pye, P.G.Chamb.
2nd Point Terry Bailey P.G.W.of R. &
3rd Point Graham Williams - Intendant General
John can not fail to have been impressed by the time and effort put on by all who took part in making his day special.

There was just time following the ceremony for a quick photograph to record the occasion before we settled down to enjoy a two-course meal courtesy of the catering staff at the Hall.

During the meal, the Intendant General made us aware of the forthcoming Tri-Partite Meeting to be held at Carlisle on Saturday 27th July 2024, when the Division would work the 2nd Point of the KHS ceremony.

Stephen also informed us that the KHS team would be working again at Dr W. R. Waters Conclave at Leigh on the 18th April.

In no time at all, we were spilling out into the sunshine again, it was time to warm up as we departed by all points of the Compass to our homes with another successful feast of Red Cross Masonry under our belts.
